The Odia Kohinoor Calendar for September 2026 marks one of the most culturally vibrant months of the year. From the celebration of Lord Krishna's birth to the massive agricultural festival in Western Odisha, September is packed with devotion and joy.
September features several major holidays. Janmashtami falls early on September 4. This is followed by widespread celebrations for Ganesh Puja (Chaturthi) on September 14. Immediately the next day, the highly auspicious and significant Western Odisha festival of Nuakhai will be celebrated on September 15. The month is also marked by consecutive Sundays of the Khudurukuni Osha fasts.
Because September falls squarely within the Chaturmas period, the Kohinoor Panjika lists no auspicious marriage muhurats (Bahaghara Tithi) for the entire month. Families must wait until late November for the wedding season to resume.
The highly revered Nuakhai festival falls on September 15, 2026, and is marked as an official state government holiday.
